The Chairman of the Body of Benchers of Nigeria, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN, has praised the infrastructural improvements being facilitated by the Tinubu administration and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as a significant form of executive support for the judiciary.
Awomolo expressed his appreciation during the launch of the design, construction, and furnishing of the Body of Benchers office annex in Abuja on Friday.
He clarified that such support from the executive does not compromise the judiciary’s independence. Instead, it reflects the collaboration anticipated by the framers of the Nigerian Constitution, as no arm of government is entirely self-sufficient in fulfilling its constitutional duties.
“The Body of Benchers is deeply grateful to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the Honourable Minister for the FCT, His Excellency, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Life Bencher, CON, for their interventions in providing essential infrastructural facilities for the Nigerian Law School, the Body of Benchers, and the judiciary,” Awomolo stated.
He emphasized that these infrastructural initiatives demonstrate meaningful executive support that merits recognition and commendation.
