Suspected Bandits Attack Five Villages in Kebbi, Kill 10

Suspected Lakurawa terrorists launched coordinated attacks on five villages in Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the death of at least 10 people and leaving several others injured.

Counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who specializes in the Lake Chad region, shared the information on Monday via his X handle, citing intelligence sources.

The affected villages include Birnin Debi, Garin Nagoro, Yar Goru, Dan Marke, and Tambo.

Reports indicate that the terrorists stormed the communities at approximately 8:48 p.m. on March 9, 2025, setting houses ablaze and firing indiscriminately.

Among those killed was 50-year-old Garba Maigari, while the identities of the other nine victims remain undisclosed.

“Several injured individuals have been taken to Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited for autopsy,” Makama stated.

In response, Nigerian troops, police, and local vigilantes have been deployed to the affected areas, and normalcy has reportedly been restored.
