Ghanaian rapper and singer, Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, known as D-Black, has pointed out that the success disparity between Nigerian and Ghanaian artists can be attributed to their differing approaches to business. According to him, Nigerian artists are driven by a business mindset, while their Ghanaian counterparts create music purely out of a love for the art.

In a recent episode of The Afrobeats Podcast, D-Black expressed his perspective, stating, “The reason Nigerian records outperform Ghanaian ones is because Ghanaian artists are not particularly focused on the financial aspect. They don’t prioritize the business side; it’s primarily driven by a love for the art, overshadowing any business strategy.”

D-Black illustrated this point with his personal experience, highlighting that despite receiving accolades such as a BET nomination, financial success was elusive. However, upon transitioning to a more commercial focus, especially within the Afrobeats genre, he achieved financial milestones such as purchasing a Ferrari and Range Rover and gaining widespread visibility.

He emphasized the need for artists and creatives to recognize that relying solely on music is insufficient for success. Instead, D-Black urged them to adopt a proactive approach, emphasizing the importance of business acumen, hard work, and leveraging social media for effective promotion of their craft.

Big Brother Naija contestant Wanni has issued an apology to her fellow housemate, Onyeka, following a heated argument between them.

The conflict arose after Onyeka accused Wanni of gossiping about her behind her back. In response, Wanni angrily called Onyeka a “childish b*tch” and insisted that she had only spoken about her in her presence.

Wanni’s twin sister, Handi, criticized her for escalating the situation and using offensive language. Taking her sister’s advice to heart, Wanni decided to apologize to Onyeka, specifically for the derogatory term she used.

Wanni explained that she struggles with her emotions, especially when hurt by those she considers friends. She admitted that her outburst was a result of her frustration and acknowledged that her response was inappropriate.

“I got very angry, which is why I used that word,” Wanni said. “Because I consider us friends, I get very emotional when I feel hurt by my friends. I shouldn’t have reacted that way. You had every right to be upset, and I should have addressed the issue more calmly. I’m sorry for using that term and for how I spoke to you. I’m working on controlling my emotions, and I promise to do better. I don’t gossip behind people’s backs; if I have something to say, I will say it to their face.”

Onyeka accepted Wanni’s apology after hearing her out.
