Tension in Delta as market women, youths protest relocation of Varsity from community


Tension is mounting in the Ozoro community of Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, as numerous women and youths have obstructed the Ozoro/Kwale/Asaba Expressway.

According to DAILY POST, they are expressing their discontent over the decision to move the Faculty of Business Administration from Delta State University of Science and Technology to Orerokpe community, the hometown of the current Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori. They argue that relocating the faculty will significantly impact the town’s economic activity.

Carrying various placards with messages of protest, the demonstrators are insisting on the return of the faculty to its original location within the institution.

At the time of reporting, the young protesters were stationed at the Owhelogbo junction, while the women were engaged in a dance procession around the community.

Travelers heading towards Asaba and Onitsha in Anambra State are being compelled to seek alternative routes due to the roadblock.

The protesters are urging Governor Oborevwori to swiftly reverse the decision and bring the faculty back to the university’s main campus.
