Adamawa guber: Binani, Fintiri know fate at Supreme Court today

Today, Governor Umar Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State and his rival, Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani, will learn the outcome of their prolonged legal battle for the governorship seat at the Supreme Court. Fintiri, representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is urging the apex court to validate the governorship election results declared by the Returning Officer on March 18 of the previous year. Conversely, Binani insists that the results announced by the Resident Electoral Commissioner should be upheld.

The Supreme Court is set to determine this morning which authority holds the power to declare election results, as both politicians assert their claims based on different sets of results. A notice regarding the delivery of the final judgment has been spotted by DAILY POST, indicating that the decision will be made known today.

The two prominent figures in Adamawa politics are contesting results declared by two distinct individuals. While the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) acknowledges the results announced by its Returning Officer, confirming Fintiri’s victory, Binani seeks the apex court’s order to compel INEC to recognize the results declared in her favor by the Resident Electoral Commissioner.

As of the time of reporting, representatives from both political camps have begun to assemble in the courtroom.
