Biafra: No judge withdrew from Nnamdi Kanu’s trial – Federal High Court

The Federal High Court of Nigeria has clarified that no judge has recused themselves from the trial of Biafra nation agitator Nnamdi Kanu, who faces terrorism charges.

Additionally, the court refuted claims attributed to its Chief Judge, John Tsoho, regarding the illegality of Kanu’s arrest and detention.

In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the court dismissed a media report linking such remarks to the Chief Judge, calling it misleading, malicious, and entirely false.

Signed by the court’s Chief Registrar, Malam Sulaiman Amida Hassan, the statement emphasized that the report was baseless and should be disregarded.

“The Federal High Court unequivocally denies the false claims suggesting that the Honourable Chief Judge, Justice John T. Tsoho, has stepped down from Kanu’s case or commented on the legality of his arrest,” the statement read.

It further clarified that Justice Tsoho, in his capacity as Chief Judge, had merely reassigned the case from Justice Binta Nyako to a new judge.

The court warned against the spread of misinformation designed to mislead the public and undermine trust in the judiciary.

“We urge the public to rely only on verified information from official court sources. The Federal High Court remains committed to upholding justice through due process,” it added.

For further inquiries, the court directed the public to its Information Department.
