The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently questioning former Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, regarding questionable transactions totaling billions of naira during his time in office. Ahmed was spotted arriving at the EFCC office in Ilorin on Monday morning. He was invited by the anti-corruption agency and is currently providing responses to inquiries concerning the expenditure of funds during his administration.
According to DAILY POST, Ahmed served as governor of Kwara State from May 2011 to May 2019, before handing over to the current governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. In May 2021, Ahmed was previously interrogated by a specialized team of investigators at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja’s Jabi area, regarding allegations of diverting approximately N9 billion from the Kwara State Government’s treasury during his tenure as governor and as the Commissioner for Finance in the administration of former Governor Bukola Saraki.
