Jigawa govt threatens to shut down private schools

The Jigawa State Ministry of Education has threatened to close private schools that are offering junior and senior secondary education without undergoing the necessary official upgrading procedures. This information was shared in a statement by Malam Musa A. Ya’u, the ministry’s Director of Private Schools.

According to him, the Jigawa State Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology has created a committee to visit all private schools to collect annual registration fees. The ministry has urged school proprietors to pay any outstanding debts, as the committee will verify that all fees have been settled.

Malam Musa A. Ya’u also called on private schools currently operating without the ministry’s approval to obtain the necessary authorization before the committee arrives. He warned that schools that initiate junior or senior sections without following the proper upgrading process risk being shut down.
