Kano Dep Gov Says Tinubu’s NSA Supporting Deposed Kano Emir

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has accused the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, of allegedly facilitating the return of the dethroned Emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero, to the palace.

In a short video interview at the Emir’s palace in Gidan Rumfa on Saturday, Gwarzo claimed that the NSA provided two jets to bring Ado Bayero to Kano. He said, “The National Security Adviser gave two jets to bring the dethroned emir to Kano and to the palace. We do not understand their intention.”

Ado Bayero, who had been visiting the Awujale of Ijebuland in Ogun State, was welcomed back to Kano by a large crowd early Saturday morning and moved into a mini palace in Nassarawa, an ancient town in Kano.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who dismissed Ado Bayero and other emirs appointed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, had ordered them to vacate their palaces within 48 hours and hand over to the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

The governor subsequently reinstated Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, who Ganduje had deposed in 2020, issuing a reappointment letter to Sanusi on Friday.
