Rivers crisis: I’ll continue to hit them hard – Fubara to Wike’s camp

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has pledged to maintain pressure on the camp of Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Fubara made this declaration as he dismissed a purported list of members for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Caretaker Committee in the state, circulating on social media, as fraudulent.

Tensions have been high in Rivers State since Fubara’s falling out with Wike, his predecessor. However, speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for an automobile spare parts market in Port Harcourt, Fubara denounced the list, which included names of Wike’s allies, as the work of attention-seekers and troublemakers.

Fubara clarified that a recent decision to extend the Executive Councils of PDP for three months, including in Rivers State, was not intended to introduce new members nor to undermine the authority of the Governor. He emphasized that the alleged lists would not be recognized.

Furthermore, Fubara highlighted an upcoming NEC meeting on April 18th, which is expected to endorse the decision regarding the council extensions. He dismissed the circulating lists as the antics of desperate individuals seeking media attention, reassuring the public that they should not be concerned.

Fubara affirmed his commitment to keeping Wike’s camp on edge, asserting that they would continue to face challenges without knowing their source. He concluded by urging those troubled by the circulating lists to remain calm, assuring them that no substantive changes were underway.
