Space science, technology pivotal to renewed hope agenda – Minister, Nnaji

The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, emphasized the pivotal role of space, science, and technology in realizing the objectives of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. During his inaugural visit and tour of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in Abuja, Nnaji highlighted the agency’s strategic significance in utilizing space, science, and technology for national development and technological progress.

Acknowledging the significant strides made by the space agency, both within the country and internationally, Nnaji underscored its crucial position as a key player in space exploration and research. He asserted that the current administration’s commitment to Renewed Hope for Nigerians would amplify the agency’s contributions to areas such as food security, protection of lives and property, wealth creation, and employment generation.

Nnaji stressed the importance of space as the ultimate platform for technological advancement, asserting that no nation can surpass its space capabilities and exploration. He emphasized that a space program is not merely a source of national pride but a significant indicator of Nigeria’s standing in the global economic landscape.

The minister clarified that his visit aimed to gather information critical for decision-making in pursuit of his set objectives. He commended the agency’s leadership for its achievements and proactive efforts in seeking alternative funding through research product commercialization and public-private partnerships.

Dr. Halilu Shaba, the Director-General of NASRDA, expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit, considering it a testament to the importance assigned to the strategic role of science, innovation, and technology in shaping the future. Shaba lauded the minister’s visionary leadership style and pledged NASRDA’s commitment to leveraging his expertise and passion to advance Nigeria’s space programs. He assured that the agency would continually strive to expand the frontiers of space exploration and satellite technology for the nation’s improvement.
