Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has sanctioned the selection of Paul Maigida Tino as the new Head of the Civil Service for the state. The decision follows a thorough screening and recommendation process undertaken by a committee established for this purpose. The official announcement was conveyed on Sunday through a press statement released by Yusuf Sanda, the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, in Jalingo.
Paul Maigida Tino’s appointment as the head of the Civil Service comes in the wake of the retirement of Suzy Nathan, the former Head of Service. The statement revealed that, among the 35 Permanent Secretaries invited for screening, Tino emerged as the most qualified candidate, achieving the highest score.
In response to the retirement of the former Head of Service and the commitment to selecting a successor based on merit and qualifications, the governor had previously formed and inaugurated a committee tasked with the Screening and Recommendation of suitable candidates for the Head of Civil Service of the State.
Before Tino’s appointment, the Committee invited 35 Permanent Secretaries for the screening, with 15 presenting themselves for the rigorous assessment. Out of these, 7 candidates who scored between 66-86 points were recommended as suitable candidates to the Governor. Tino, as stated in the press release, secured the highest score, solidifying his position as the most suitable candidate for the role of the Head of Civil Service of the State.
