Troops rescue 52 kidnap victims in Sokoto

Troops from the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD), have successfully and efficiently carried out an operation in the Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in the rescue of 52 kidnapped victims. The Army, in an official statement on its X account, highlighted that this operation was part of a continued effort to combat terrorists by conducting clearance operations within their designated Areas of Responsibility.

According to the statement released on December 22, 2023, the OPHD troops conducted a thorough clearance and destruction of terrorist enclaves in Saruwa, Kubuta, Gundumi villages, and Bunwanga Gundumi forest in Isa LGA. In the course of the operation, 52 kidnapped victims were rescued, and a number of terrorists were neutralized.

The rescued individuals, comprising 14 males, 32 females, and 6 children, will undergo a medical examination, debriefing, and subsequent handover to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families. This successful operation underscores the commitment of the Joint Task Force North-West in ensuring the safety and security of the region.
