Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has revealed that his administration inherited over thirteen billion Naira in unpaid pensions and gratuities from previous governments.
He made this disclosure on Wednesday during his one-year anniversary ceremony in Gusau, the state capital.
He stated that since taking office, his administration has paid off over N5 billion of the pension and gratuity backlog.
“I inherited over thirteen billion Naira in pension and gratuity arrears from previous administrations dating back to 2012.
“I have settled over five billion Naira of these backlogs within my first year in office, and I am committed to ensuring that every retired civil servant receives their due pensions and gratuities,” he said.
Governor Lawal further emphasized that his administration is tirelessly working to improve the state’s social and economic conditions.
“The sectors of security, education, youth empowerment, agriculture, healthcare, and good governance will continue to be prioritized as part of my administration’s mission to rescue the state,” he assured.
He also appealed to the citizens to remain law-abiding and support the policies and programs of his administration to achieve its goals.
